Michigan’s largest catfish ever was confirmed using precision Avery Weigh-Tronix equipment, thanks to Standard Scale & Supply.
Recently, a new state record-setting catfish was caught in Newport, Michigan by bow fisherman Cody Carlson. Cody’s catch beat the previous record by over 10lbs, but while angling records are without a doubt cool, we are interested in the story because of how this catfish’s monster size was verified.
The State of Michigan requires any record-breaking fish to be verified by weight, and a biologist to determine the species. Cody took his catch to distributor Standard Scale & Supply Company in Redford, Michigan, who provided the needed Legal for Trade weighing equipment to confirm Cody’s new record. The 64lb 45in catch was verified using both an Avery Weigh-Tronix BSNO Diamond Series 18” x 24” 100 lb scale base with a ZM301 Weight Indicator. Thank you to Standard Scale for choosing our scale and indicators for this impressive opportunity, and a big congratulations to Cody!
