Calibration and Repair Technician (Hybrid Based from Smethwick)
Objective of role:
To work as part of a head office-based calibration & repair team, providing our customers with an excellent level of service which is technically competent and helps our customers to effectively maintain the performance of their test, measurement and specialist equipment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide effective and technically competent metrology calibration services in a variety of disciplines in a laboratory environment
To identify solutions to customer problems and communicate them effectively, such solutions to include but not be limited to advice on calibration cycles, test points and equipment usage.
To provide effective and technically competent repair services to test, measurement and specialist products and systems.
To communicate with our customers when required, discussing calibration results and providing solutions to problems they encounter with the performance of their test, measurement and specialist equipment.
To ensure that any customer calibration certificates or repair reports are completed professionally and clearly articulate the outcome and recommendations.
To maintain accurate records (which may be paper-based or electronic) so that the business may determine operational efficiency, customer facing metrics, contract profitability and technician productivity.
To be responsible for the accurate management of spare parts stock to ensure a high level of first time fix.
Identify and report any warranty issues identified through repairs to customer equipment
To accurately administer chargeable repairs in-line with Business requirements.
To accurately operate the Cognito system in accordance with Company policy operating the system in real time unless limited by connection or safety.
To accurately operate the Indysoft commercial laboratory software in accordance with Company policy operating the system in real time unless limited by connection or safety.
To ensure that all stock, company equipment and tools are kept clean safe and secure and maintained to high standard.
To maximise the time spent on productive work
To undertake and attend training courses necessary to develop and maintain competence to undertake the role
Liaising and expediting with internal and external suppliers to ensure requested delivery dates are met
To ensure accurate and timely administrative care is taken when completing time sheets.
From time to time be available to undertake work in overtime in-line with the requirements of the Business.
To observe and comply with all Company policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, Car Policy, Ethics Policy, IT User policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment.
To comply with the Company’s Expense Policy and submit expenses on a monthly basis to the Compliance Business Unit Manager for approval.
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in-line with skills and experience.
General Comments
This role requires an advanced skill set and knowledge base in all weighing and metrology requirements in order to support both internal and external customers at all levels.
The role will provide pivotal support in achieving our customer facing metrics and internal key performance indicators.
