To work as part of a laboratory team in providing our customers with excellent, technically competent service and support and to calibrate our customers’ metrology equipment to a high-standard to deliver a maximum five-day turnaround for all items sent to our Birmingham based laboratory.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To work more than one of our Birmingham based laboratories being able to perform calibration unsupervised in all the required disciplines.
To provide effective and technically competent metrology calibration services in a variety of disciplines in a laboratory environment.
Completion of calibrations within the given time frames set by the area team leader.
To accurately Check-In & Despatch customer equipment. Taking great care ensuring all equipment details and customer information is correct.
To provide technical support and training to internal members of staff working within the metrology laboratory and to the wider business.
To comply with all safe working practices outlined when working in the laboratory.
To identify solutions to customer problems and communicate them effectively, such solutions to include but not be limited to advice on calibration cycles, test points and equipment usage.
To ensure that customer reports are completed professionally and clearly articulate the outcome and recommendations of any visit.
To accurately operate the Indysoft commercial laboratory software in accordance with Company policy operating the system in real time unless limited by connection or safety.
To ensure that all stock, company equipment and tools are kept clean safe and secure and maintained to high standard.
To accurately review third party certificates to ensure accuracy prior to sending to the customer.
Diagnosis & Repairs where appropriate.
To provide feedback and engagement to assist the laboratory in continuous improvement.
To have a good understanding of the Laboratories quality system requirements and following guidelines set out in our scope of accreditation.
To check and sign UKAS accredited certificates in at least one discipline within the laboratory.
To assist in the creation of calibration templates required within the laboratory.
Effectively represent the Avery Weigh-Tronix brand in terms of appearance, conduct and communication when working in the laboratory.
To undertake and attend training courses necessary to develop and maintain competence to undertake the role.
To ensure accurate and timely administrative care is taken when completing time sheets.
To observe and comply with all Company policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, Car Policy, Ethics Policy, IT User policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment.
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in-line with skills and experience.
To maintain accurate records (which may be paper-based or electronic) so that the business may determine operational efficiency, customer facing metrics, contract profitability and technician productivity.
Person Specification – Background Experience Basic Qualifications and/or Experience required:
5 GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, or equivalent
Desirable BTEC (Lv3) qualification in Mechanical / Electrical field, or equivalent
2-5 years prior experience in a similar role and within a Service Driven and highly Customer-focused environment
Prior experience in a calibration background required in minimum of two disciplines.
