NEW: Metrology Sales Technician (Hybrid, based from Smethwick)
Objective of role:
To work as part of a laboratory team and alongside the Compliance Business Unit Manager in providing our customers with excellent, technically-competent service and support and to calibrate our customers’ metrology equipment to a high-standard to deliver a maximum five-day turnaround for all items sent to our Birmingham based laboratory. This role will also encompass on site working when required alongside a requirement to develop all internal metrology processes, this will aid the business in achieving UKAS accreditation in the future.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
In line with our ‘Model Visit’ initiative, effectively represent the Avery Weigh-Tronix brand in terms of appearance, conduct and communication
To provide effective and technically competent metrology calibration services in a variety of disciplines both in a laboratory environment and on customer sites
To provide technical support and guidance to internal members of staff working within the metrology laboratory and to the wider business
To provide metrology calibration training to existing laboratory staff, new starters and other members of staff within Avery Weigh-Tronix
To provide technical support and guidance to external customers when required
To assist the laboratory in attaining UKAS accreditation by taking a lead in the development of processes and any other items deemed necessary
To identify solutions to customer problems and communicate them effectively, such solutions to include but not be limited to advice on calibration cycles, test points and equipment usage
To identify changes to individual customer contracts in terms of equipment covered, customer contact information and site requirements. Ensuring that such changes are authorised by the customer and that the companies electronic and paper systems are updated accordingly
To ensure that customer reports are completed professionally and clearly articulate the outcome and recommendations of any visit
To maintain accurate records (which may be paper-based or electronic) so that the Business may determine contract profitability and engineer productivity
To be responsible for the calibration or test status of all testing equipment used for site visits
To accurately administer revenue-generating quotations in-line with business requirements
To accurately operate the Indysoft commercial laboratory software in accordance with Company policy operating the system in real time unless limited by connection or safety
To ensure that all stock, company equipment and tools are kept clean safe and secure and maintained to high standard
To maximise the time spent on productive work either traveling to or working on customer sites
To undertake and attend training courses necessary to develop and maintain competence to undertake the role
To ensure accurate and timely administrative care is taken when completing time sheets
From time to time be available to undertake work in overtime in-line with the requirements of the Business
To observe and comply with all Company policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, Car Policy, Ethics Policy, IT User policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment
To comply with the Company’s Expense Policy and submit expenses on a monthly basis to the Business & Service Delivery Manager for approval
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in-line with skills and experience
General Comments
This is a field-based mobile role. While the individual is part of a team they will normally be lone-working in customer sites within the appropriate coverage area and works will be carried out through customer visits 5 days a week.
Background Experience
Basic Qualifications and/or Experience required:
5 GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, or equivalent
Relevant BTEC (Lv3) qualification in Mechanical / Electrical field, or equivalent
Banksman, Confined Space and Passport to Safety certified, desirable
2-5 years prior experience in a similar field based role and within a Service Driven and highly Customer-focused environment
Prior experience in a metrology background is desirable
