Pioneering SOLAS Solutions now Independently Verified by OIML

After their successful launch earlier this year, our pioneering SOLAS container weighing solutions C-Jacks and C-Legs have now been given OIML approval for their precision and performance.

OIML approval is granted by the International Organisation of Legal Metrology and awarded to weighing equipment that has passed stringent testing on repeat performance and accuracy.

The products are currently the only new solutions designed specifically to meet the SOLAS requirements that are independently verified in the UK.

Stewart Campbell, Divisional Manager for Logistics, said: “As well as the possibility of fines for mis-declared verified gross mass (VGM), other risks for shippers include delays for a missed shipment (containers cannot be loaded aboard ship without an accurate VGM) and cost of having the container weighed at port. It’s therefore vitally important that the weighing equipment used to obtain a container VGM is accurate”.

Both devices are manufactured by New Zealand-based container weighing specialists BISON.

Designed for maximum portability and speed, C-Jacks are ideal for mobile weighing service providers and sites handling low-to-medium container volumes at ground level.

They take less than five minutes for one person to attach, weigh and pack away.

C-Legs are designed for weighing containers of up to 35,000 kg on a vehicle chassis. The patent pending design features four steel legs with integrated scales to measure the load on each leg and transmit the weight reading wirelessly to a smart device app. Both C-Jacks and C-Legs run the same Android based app where weight data is stored, reviewed and then exported to the shippers’ EPR system by email.
