Field Service Technician

Location: Ballymena / Co AntrimMobile covering N/Ireland, operating from company vehicle

Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent - 37 on-site hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Objective of role:

To work as part of a Regional Service team to provide our customers with an excellent level of service which is technically competent and helps our customers to effectively maintain the performance of their test, measurement and specialist weighing equipment.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In line with our ‘model visit’ effectively represent the Avery Weigh-Tronix brand in terms of appearance, conduct and communication.
  • To use and apply a multi-skilled technical competence to prevent equipment breakdown across both Standards & Transports works and where breakdown occurs minimise the impact upon customer operations.
  • To provide effective and technically competent breakdown and preventative maintenance services to test, measurement and specialist products and systems at a variety of sites.
  • To calibrate test, measurement and specialist products and systems at customer premises.
  • To identify and communicate to our customers, solutions to problems they encounter with the performance of their test, measurement and specialist equipment. Such solutions to include, but not be limited to, new product sales, repairs, alternative solutions as per proposition coverage levels, new software and/or hire solutions.
  • To identify changes to individual customer contracts in terms of equipment covered, customer contact information and site requirements. Ensuring that such changes are authorised by the customer and that the company’s electronic and paper systems are updated accordingly.
  • To ensure that any customer reports are completed professionally and clearly articulate the outcome and recommendations of any visit, in line with policy, procedures and trading standards.
  • To maintain accurate records (which may be paper-based or electronic) at all times so that the Business may determine contract profitability and engineer productivity.
  • To be responsible for the accurate management of spare parts stock to ensure a high level of first time fix.
  • To accurately administer Chargeable repairs in-line with Business requirements.
  • To accurately operate the Cognito system in accordance with Company policy operating the system in ‘real-time’ unless limited by connection or safety.
  • To ensure that all stock, company equipment, including vehicle, and tools are kept clean safe and secure and maintained to high standard.
  • To maximise the time spent on productive work either travelling to or working on customer sites driving high productivity levels.
  • To attend and pass all training courses necessary to develop and maintain competence to undertake the role.
  • To ensure accurate and timely administrative care is taken when completing time sheets, overtime records, all orders, whereabouts etc.
  • From time to time be available to undertake work in overtime in-line with the requirements of the Business.
  • To observe and comply with all Company policies including but not limited to Health, Safety & Environmental, Company Vehicle, Principles of Conduct, Anti-bribery & Ethics, IT Users Policy, Duty of Confidence and all other policies and appendices in operation by the company.
  • To comply with the Company’s Expense Policy and submit expenses on a monthly basis to your manager for approval.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in-line with skills and experience.

Pre-requisites to apply:

Eligibility: 

  • Eligible to work in the UK. 
  • Hold a current, full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications: 

  • 5 GCSE qualifications at grades A-C, or equivalent, to include Maths and English.
  • Relevant BTEC / NVQ (Lv3) qualification in Mechanical / Electrical field, or equivalent.
  • Passport to Safety & Confined Space certifications are desirable.

Experience: 

  • 1-4 years practical experience in a similar role and/or within a Service driven, customer-focused environment is desirable.

 

General Comments:

This is a field-based role, while the individual is part of a team they will normally be working alone in customer sites in the region and will be carried out through customer visits for 5 days a week. Standby Rota coverage will be expected at this level of role.

Service Support Officer

Location: Mallusk Co. Antrim, providing national coverage Mobile operating from company vehicle

Objective of Role:

To provide an excellent level of office and field based commercial and technical support to the Technical Manager, Commercial Manager as well as other team members.

                                   

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Technical Manager, on maintaining the monthly forecast file to include chargeable revenues and associated costs, hire and Service product sales for regional customer as well as specific customers including (but not restricted to)  Post Office, Royal Mail, Parcel Force.
  • Ensure that Industrial including weighbridge work is scheduled for completion within the month, as per forecast, to customer expectations.
  • Cost, configure and supply quotations for chargeable repairs, Service Agreements, calibrations, spare parts, 3rd party repair and calibration work as required, working with price lists, both reactively and on an initiative basis.
  • Working with the Technical Manager, ensure all invoicing of chargeable revenues, for all regional and specific customers, is completed to forecast within each month.
  • Monitoring of outstanding workloads (PM2 Reports / Calibrations), highlighting any prominent customer requirements in conjunction with the Technical Manager and Team Leader.
  • Responsibility for directly purchasing of all subcontract, plant hire and required parts for non-weighbridge work.
  • Fulfil customer specific work such as Post Office/Royal Mail rate changes, SLAs and any other reports which are deemed necessary under contractual obligations with those specific customers.
  • Produce periodic management reports for the Technical and Commercial Manager.
  • Management and execution of all daily administration activities in line with company procedures.
  • Occasionally create Method Statements and Risk Assessments to customers’ requirements.
  • To observe and comply with all Company policies including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, Ethics Policy, IT User Policy and all policies and appendices within the Contract of Employment.
  • To comply with the Company’s Expense Policy and submit any expenses on a regular basis, including providing support for Service Technicians on the Concur expense system.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in line with skills and experience.
