Global Marketing Communications Manager

Objective of Role :
 
This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing communication strategy and tactics for Avery Weigh-Tronix worldwide. This includes but is not limited to : promotional literature, specification sheets, advertising, press releases, case studies, websites, exhibitions and direct marketing. Our marketing strategy favours measurable, reportable tactics over brand awareness, so there is a particular emphasis ondirect marketing within the department.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
 
MARKETING
 
·       Working with the Sales, Product Management and R&D teams globally, to plan the full year marketing communications strategy and implement it using the full range of Marcomms tools available and appropriate for Avery Weigh-Tronix.
 
·       Allocate and manage the Marketing Communications budgets worldwide on behalf of the various sales teams and business units. Report back to them progress against budget and results achieved with spend.
 
·       Working with the Product Management team, plan and execute all product launches worldwide, plan and deliver promotional literature, spec sheets and whatever other collateral necessary to effectively promote our products to the sales channel and end user.
 
·       To take responsibility for all AWTX’s online marketing activities, most especially the website redevelopment project. Also be responsible for Avery Weigh-Tronix’s social media activities.
 
·       Manage internal and external Marcomms resources in order to present a professional, unified, directed brand presence for Avery Weigh-Tronix and its associated brands worldwide. A particular emphasis in the coming years will be rolling out standard activities to AWTX’s operations in India, Malaysia and China.
 
·       Regularly meet with all of the Sales arms of the Company to ensure Marcomms tactics are co-ordinated and effective, tweaking where appropriate. Ensure that all Marcomms activities are used as widely and effectively as possible.
 
·       Develop and monitor KPIs for the department and report progress back against them to the various Marcomms stakeholder groups.
 
·       Monitor and manage the Technical Publications team to ensure timely publication of all user, service and parts manuals worldwide.
 
·       To provide data and analysis to support and create the AWTX marketing and wider corporate strategy. To be an active participant, when necessary, in business unit and corporate strategic development
 
·       Serve as the Company’s spokesperson with the media when necessary and working with the Global Communications Manager.
 


PEOPLE
 
·          To manage the Marketing Communications department staff, providing leadership, support, motivation, guidance and discipline when necessary. 
 
·          To be an active member of the Product Management team in order to ensure regular communication of product development initiatives back to the Marcomms group, serving as the Marketing Director’s deputy, when necessary.
 
·          To be an active member of the Avery Weigh-Tronix management team, developing and supporting initiatives company-wide. As one of the only global functions, to facilitate contacts and activities between departments worldwide.
 
·          To employ effective people management skills to manage the department to co-ordinate objectives and tasks leading to the ongoing development, ensuring optimum motivation and performance from all team members.
 
·          As necessary, to carry out recruitment and selection for the team, expenses and holidays approval, appraisals, performance management, training, coaching and disciplinary meetings.    
 
·          To take overall responsibility for the management, motivation and efficiency of all team members.
 
Any other duties deemed appropriate within the scope of the role and in line with skills and experience.
 
The Candidate
 
The ideal candidate will ideally have a Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing or a related discipline, with experience in a Marketing or Marketing Communications role, preferably in a B2B or FMCG environment and must be able to demonstrate the following attributes :
 
·         Experience of working across the full range of Marketing Communications activities including : Advertising, PR, Graphic Design and Copywriting. Practical and demonstrateable success in the direct marketing arena is an advantage.
·          Experience of Website development, enactment and continuous development.
·          Experience of creating and managing KPI’s.
·          Budgetary production and reporting experience.
·          Understanding and practical experience of remote management of direct reports plus historic performance of working in a matrix management environment would be an advantage.
·          Be a strong and influential communicator with excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills.
·          PC literate with a sound working knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint.  Experience of Adobe Pagemaker, in Design and Photoshop would be an added benefit.
·          Strong people development and leadership skills, who is able to motivate and influence others.
·          An experienced Manager, who can guide but is also not afraid to jump in and help out.
·          A flexible approach to workload and duties, ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines while demonstrating attention to detail.
·          A strategic thinker and self-starter, with the ability to generate and implement creative marketing programmes and assist in any change management.
·          A skilled writer, being equally at ease with both factual writing and copywriting for advertising and brochures.  
·          Organised and efficient, able to manage multiple projects at one time.
·          The ability to work with and manage multi-cultural and multi-national teams is essential.
·          Fluent in English, and additional language would be desirable.
